Grocery Guide!

Every week I like to make a grocery list, that way I don’t find myself constantly running to the grocery store. Here are ten easy ways to organize your grocery list for the week!

  1. Use several colors to categorize.
  2. On one side create a daily menu.
  3. On the other side write down the ingredients you need for those recipes.
  4. Make note of leftovers, so you don’t over purchase items.
  5. After you create your grocery list browse the internet for coupons.
  6. Make circles or boxes to check off when you are shopping
  7. Try to categorize your items by aisles to make it much easier to shop. I used colors to categorize mine, sometimes I use sections.
  8. Make your grocery list in the kitchen, that way you know what you have already.
  9. Don’t make your grocery list on an empty stomach!
  10. Don’t go grocery shopping on an empty stomach!

Creating your own meals helps you know exactly what you are eating and allows you to make healthier choices. It also save es you so much more in the long run, because fast food and eating out at restaurants can rob your bank!

Do Your Homework Before Grocery Shopping!

Before I go to the grocery store I always make a list. This helps me know exactly what I need and as I’m going down the aisles searching I don’t pay attention to the unnecessary purchases.

Sectioning off your groceries by aisles helps the searching easier, it’s like a mini scavenger hunt.

I do a lot of research on the internet looking for coupons, nutritional value and brands before I go to the store other wise I find my self spending hours there and never leaving with what I came there for

Find a couple recipes that ask for the same ingredients to shorten up your list, and prepare you for meals throughout the week.

Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach or if you are sleepy. Being hungry will make you buy more unhealthy foods and being sleepy will cause you to hurry the trip and grab whatever is the fastest.

(fast scribble don’t make fun of the spelling, I’m away haha)

Last night I made Chicken Caesar Pita Pockets and I didn’t know what to serve on the side, I found these in the Frozen Section at Super Target, I didn’t think they would taste THAT great because of the amazing nutritional value. I gave them a try and I was so shocked they tasted like sweet potato fries.

Even though they were designed for kids, they make healthy eating taste great!

My favorite salad dressings I always keep in the house! You can get these at Super Target!

My quick dinner for tonight! I’m not a huge fan of tomato soup but Amy’s Organic brand tasted amazing! This took me 5 minutes to prepare. Staying healthy when you are in a hurry is possible!

Who says Goldfish are only for kids??

They are one of my favorite snacks! Last night I tried the Smores flavor for the first time! I’M HOOKED! They are only 140 calories for 55 pieces. Perfect for a sweet tooth!

A couple nights ago Jeremy and I were walking around the grocery store and saw the “Grind Your Own Peanut Butter” station. We were so excited! We love stuff like that. We ended up choosing the Honey Roasted. The flavor was so yummy! Jeremy hates chunky peanut butter, and the honey roasted ended up being a little grainy, but the flavor was so rich and sweet the texture didn’t bother him. Peanut butter in our house is dangerous, because we are both obsessed with peanut butter, which is okay in proportion but we never stop with the first spoon full. The grinder let you stop whenever you wanted, which was a great convenience for us. We filled our container about 1/3 full. It came to around $1.88 which wasn’t too bad, compared to other peanut butter prices at whole food grocery stores.

We found four different types of Shirataki noodles, we couldn’t decide which one to try so we decided it would just be safe to buy all four and test them out. That way next time we will know right away which ones to purchase. A lot of the time people have a hard time trying to find these noodles, because they are in the refrigerator section.

Chobanie and Love Grown Granola! I always keep this in the house for a grab n go!

GOLDFISH! THE SNACK THAT SMILES BACK! Perfect snack poppers! 55 peices for 140 calories!

20 calorie Vegetarian Parmesan Cheese! I bought this at Whole Foods

I always try to buy organic Spaghetti sauce! I taste fresh and is usually lower in sodium!

Annie’s bunny fruit may have been intended for kids but I love them. Whenever I have that gummy bear craving these hit the spot. I like how they are made in personal packets at the store that way I don’t eat the whole box. These are perfect to bring to the movies when you are trying to avoid the candy counter.

Yesterday the kids that I watch and I sat down for an afternoon showing of Ratatouille. How can you watch Ratatouille without a light snack to save your mouth from drooling all over the French cuisine? POPCORN! But not that icky sticky buttery popcorn that is loaded in unhealthy fats, a light air popped popcorn with healthy fats made from olive oil. We stopped at Whole Foods and grabbed a bag of light popcorn. This popcorn was delicious, it was lightly seasoned and crunchy as ever! This popcorn is perfect for those who don’t have access to a air popper at home or in their dorm room. This is the kind of snack I can eat straight from the bag without over indulging.
