I get many questions in my ask box about what kind of detox/cleanse they should do. I have never done a cleanse or detox other than just eating really clean on days I feel bloated and as us girls usually say "gross". After a weekend of pigging out I make sure to eat super healthy and add vegetables, protein and fruits in every meal.Would that be considered a detox/cleanse? I know a lot of Hollywood stars rely on detoxes and cleanse to stay in shape (not that we should always do what celebrities do) and it seems to work for them. What is your opinion on detoxes and cleanses? Are there safe ones or should they all be avoided? Dangerous ones? Fill me in.
I’m such a cheese-ball but I couldn’t resist. Jeremy is a huge Jalapeno eater and puts them literally on everything. I decided to buy him a jalapeno plant and paint the pot as a cute little gift yesterday. I had this bright Idea to get a bunch of vegetable plants and make cute little pots like this for my balcony so that’s what I’m dong today! This could be a symbol of our relationship the more we grow the more spice we have :) haha okay that made no sense but you get it right? For the paint I bought a couple paint pins, it didn’t take long at all so it’s a cute and cheap gift. It’s also fun if you have kids or are looking for something to do this summer while babysitting.
Everyone wanted to eat at Chipotle last night and I couldn’t refuse! I didn’t want to order a burrito because I always feel so full and sluggish so I ordered a vegetarian salad. They topped my salad with a little bit of brown rice, fajita peppers, fresh tomato salsa, a little bit of cheese, corn salsa, and guacamole on the side.
The phrase I always practice and preach , breakfast is the most important part of the day. It’s also important to do breakfast right! Make sure your breakfast has fruit or veggies with protein and healthy whole grains. One of my favorite breakfast choices are pancakes, but only if they are done right. By right I mean healthy. Here is a recipe for a whole grain pancake packed with fruit and protein!
Defrost chicken and cut into strips. Add it to a pan with olive oil on medium high. Add crushed pineapple, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper and cook until chicken is glazed and cooked. Save remaining glaze in pan.
Place chicken and glaze into the refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill.
In a bowl add Lettuce, Peppers, Onion, Diced Pineapple, and Blueberries.
Take chicken out of refrigerator and lay on top of salad. Pour glaze over salad and add Parmesan on top.
After my workout this morning I fueled my body back up with a delicious bowl of non fat vanilla Chobani and 1 cup of mixed fruit. Treating your body after a workout is very important with restoring your muscles and building your stamina.
Having a busy schedule makes remembering to eat breakfast crucial. It’s hard to remember to eat breakfast when we have so many things going on, but working on a hungry stomach leads you to feeling irritable, forgetful, lightheaded, and fatigue. Lets be honest, who wants to work with someone like that? Certainly not me! I tend to overeat later in the day if I skip my breakfast which leads me to keep feeling irritable and fatigue. It’s better to keep that healthy balance of meals. Your health is always more important than your busy schedule, so put yourself first and enjoy your breakfast! One of my favorite desserts is chocolate covered strawberries so I decided to take it to my oatmeal bowl. It’s still very quick and tasty and can fit into any busy schedule! What’s a few minutes?
1/2 Cup Quaker Oats
1 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Strawberry Slices
3 Chocolate Candy Melts Broken Into Pieces
1 Tbsp Skim Milk
In a microwave safe bowl heat Quaker Oats and water for 2 minutes
Add milk, strawberries, and chocolate.

Television Tuesday Workout! I love my Tuesday T.V. but sitting on the couch 3 hours in a row is very inactive so I’ve decided to earn my T.V. time and make it useful! Join the workout tonight! Don’t forget to tweet your workout results to @taralynnstweets with #prettylittleliars #dancemoms #teenmom so I can follow!
Sure we exercise to get in great shape and to stay healthy but a couple days ago my run brought me something else! I was running down a side street and a little old lady was having a yard sale. This old window frame caught my eye. I ran back and got my car then walked up to the yard sale and asked her how much she wanted for it. She gave it to me for $2.00. What a bargain! She thought I was crazy because I was over excited about my old broken window frame. I stopped at Michael’s Craft store and grabbed chalkboard spray paint, some cork board and fabric! It’s not the best looking craft but it still made me proud :) Hopefully I find more exciting things on my morning runs.
I was craving almond butter and jelly toast for breakfast this morning but unfortunately I was out of jelly. I got a little crafty and decided to use peaches instead. I’m a huge fan of peach jelly so I figured it would taste the same but it didn’t, it tasted better! If you want a natural tasting breakfast this is definitely one to try! I plan on trying this out with a bunch of different fruits.
Road trips can be long, boring and healthy eating breakers. It’s hard to find healthy foods at gas stations, fast food joints and truck stops but it is possible. I like to eat light on road trips, feeling full and uncomfortable in a car is no fun and the more bathroom stops the longer it takes to get to your destination. If your driving it’s also important to eat healthy otherwise you’ll have a lack of energy and feel sleepy behind the wheel.
It was around 12:00pm and after munching on Chobani and a granola bar we stopped for brunch. I could have easily just ordered a large stack of pancakes with extra syrup and a side of eggs but feeling bloated all trip and miserable in the car quickly changed my mind. I’m just one to enjoy a healthy fresh meal, so that is what I ordered. I ordered an extra large Caesar salad…I know what you are thinking “that is not a Caesar salad”. You are technically right but I just made a couple alterations. I asked for no cheese, dressing on the side, instead of breaded chicken I asked the waitress to throw a boiled egg on it. I ordered a side of fruit and topped my salad with it to add more flavor. I walked out feeling comfortable and satisfied.
Prepare pudding mix with almond milk and let chill until firm.
Scoop watermelon into balls with 1 Tbsp sized spoon
Dip Watermelon into pudding mix and immediately place in freezer or the pudding will slide off. After pudding starts to harden on watermelon dip a second time and place in freezer. Do this until there is no pudding left.
After a couple hours of freezing drizzle dark chocolate over watermelon and add sprinkles. Place back into freezer for one hour.

Pizza is hard to conquer in a healthy way but Naked Pizza, one of my favorite pizza joints definitely proves the “unhealthy rep” wrong by conquering a healthy pizza. They also managed to capture me with the amazing taste and healthy flavors. The typical pizza from a pizza place is drowning in grease and chewy cheese but Naked Pizza is so whole that you can actually taste the ingredients. It literally sends your taste buds into happy dance mode!
This is Naked Pizza in Chicago. Just a couple years ago Naked Pizza started in a tiny shop in New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina. That one pizza shop grew into 25 new shops in less than 18 months. I’m sure we will be seeing more of these pizza joints around now that Mark Cuban has finalized his investment in Naked Pizza and plans on growing. If its incredibly fast growing rate doesn’t tell you how impressive this place is, I will just have to keep convincing you.
After taking Grumples for a little walk we stopped in and ordered two pizzas. One for Jeremy and one for me. They make the pizza right after you order it and have it ready within ten minutes. Can it get more fresh than that? It’s so convenient. You know that crash feeling you get after eating the “normal” pizza, well Naked pizza does the exact opposite!
Jeremy ordered the 10” with chicken, jalapeno and white sauce! The chicken has absolutely no hormones or antibiotics. Looks so good!
I ordered the 10” with red sauce, onion, spinach, tomato, pineapple, and bell pepper. I can’t describe how amazing the flavor was because there are no words.
I am almost certain this pizza was made with magic. It has so many healthy benefits that you normally can’t find in pizza. The crust is made with 10 grains plus prepiotic agave fiber that contribute to digestive health. It’s also made with oats, brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth, teff, spelt, tapioca, and different kinds of wheat. The crust is also butter free and sugar free sorry Paula Dean but its better without butter. The tomato sauce was one of the best I have ever had full of natural spices and herbs. There was no citric acid or added sugar which reduces calories. The cheese was perfect made with whole products and 100% natural. The vegetables are also organic with no additives or icky farmer chemicals. If you ever get the chance to try Naked Pizza don’t pass it up!
I love waking up to a nice cup of coffee, but who doesn’t love cold coffee on a hot summer day!? Most iced coffees at coffee shops are full of heavy creams and sugar but I made a simple and light version! I used my Keurig but you can use whatever coffee maker! I brewed one cup of coffee, added 1 packet of Truvia and 1 Tbsp of sugar free french vanilla creamer. I took the cup of coffee and evenly distributed it into an empty ice cube tray. I let the coffee freeze for about 2 hours. I brewed another cup of coffee and placed it in the refrigerator to chill. As soon as the coffee cubes were frozen and the coffee was chilled I poured the coffee over the cubes then added 1 packet of Truvia and 1 Tbsp of Sugar Free French Vanilla Creamer! I love that the ice cubes were made of coffee because my iced coffee never watered down like most do. It’s really simple and such a refreshing beverage!

Going to parties over the summer can be super tough if you are trying to stay on a healthy track! Don’t torture yourself when you go, bring something you can indulge in that is healthy and delicious. Every time I go to parties unprepared I find myself drooling over the sugary treats, creamy pastas and the glazed grilled foods. Of course all those foods are great in moderation but if you are anything like me sometimes I can’t stop at one brownie! After being super hungry my taste buds yell “gimme more”! I try to bring a dish every time I go, something with lots of fruits and greens! Here is one of my favorite party appetizers because its not only healthy and delicious it’s beautiful!
Ingredients: (depending on how many you plan on making)
Whole Wheat Mini Toast
Light Cream Cheese (You can also use different flavors)
Mixed Bell Peppers
Honey due Melon
(Tip: I bought pre-cut fruits and vegetables to save me time and money)
Spread toast on baking sheet and bake on 350 for 7 minutes until lightly browned and crisp. (toasting/baking is optional)
Let them cool for 10 minutes
Spread 1 tbsp of cream cheese on each slice of toast
Top each mini toast with either 1 tbsp of diced fruit or 1 tbsp of diced vegetables.
I know I haven’t posted many lunches lately but I’ve been so busy I’ve been grabbing and going at home. Last night I decided to make it the night before and have it prepared to grab and go. On the top left I have 1/2 grapefruit cut into slices and sprinkled with Truvia. To the top right I have three mini biscotti uncut. On the bottom section I made the same wrap I posted yesterday on a bed of shredded carrots. I need a healthy and filling lunch for my early work out today! Too many good shows on tonight :) I need to get rid of this couch potato syndrome
In Chicago they have a high energy dance fitness studio focusing on exercise and fun, the Mazi Dance Studio! They have all different kinds of dance classes you can take that will change and sculpt your body! This looks like a good work out for today just because my favorite show DANCE MOMS is on tonight and I’m in the the mood to shake it!
I know what you are thinking…”EW”,but don’t be quick to judge! This is actually one of my favorite foods. My grandma used to make it when I was a kid. It’s light and healthier than most snacks. I use 1 bag of shredded carrots and 2 boxes of jello. I like to use strawberry, cherry, or orange for the jello flavor. The carrots soak up the flavor of the jello and taste like candy! I’m also a huge fan of the texture. Every time someone gives me the “what the heck are you eating” look quickly change their expression to “shocked” after trying it. Give it a try and let me know what you think!!
Love this guy more than anything! I wouldn’t be very far without him! He’s one of the goofiest most lovable Dads! Thank you for always being there! Love you sooooooooooooooooooo Much!! Happy Fathers Day! :)
After watching all the Teen Mom episodes over the years I can’t help but notice the transformation of these girls! Today is the premier of MTV’S Teen Mom The final season so I thought I’d do a little post on how they transformed themselves!
